Electric RC Car Parts
There is no issue of parts with toy grade Electric RC Cars but with mid grade and hobby grade cars, parts are necessary for general maintenance and upgrade. Online shops offer attractive discounts on expensive parts but sometimes with sophisticated parts, delivery may be delayed for certain cars as they come from Asian factories. However, some American local made parts can also be a viable option. While choosing individual parts, care must be taken to ensure that it fits exactly in size and other specification. Even a wrong screw, if tried ignorantly, may break in hole causing damages. Faulty batteries, heat sinks may lead to burn outs. Most typical cars can be serviced by enthusiasts but one may sometimes need help for which there are many clubs, forums, experts, technicians and service departments of makers. An Electric RC Car has among others the following main components: Motor: It is either a stock or modified or brushed or brushless motors. Brushless modern motors can give up to 300% more power than conventional ones. Battery and Charger: Normally, the battery packs used in Electric RC Cars are made up of 6 or 7 Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd) cells tightly wrapped in a strong plastic film. Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) or Lithium cells are also used. Normally, they deliver 7.2 volts. Always select a fast battery charger. Electronic Speed Control (ECS): This is an Electric RC Car's speed control device and is controlled by the throttle stick or trigger on the radio transmitter in the operator's hands. It controls speed by controlling the current flowing into the motor from the battery. ECS is smooth and better than mechanical servo controls. Wheels and tires: Aluminium alloy wheels or hard nylon wheels are glued with rubber tires of choice (for race or play) using a tire glue compound. Car chassis: Aluminium Alloy to Carbon composite are used for chassis on which many kinds of bodies, as per user choice, can be mounted. On same chassis, a sedan, a sprint car, a buggy or truck can be built. Bearings: Plastic/ metal bushes or sophisticated tiny ball bearings can be used as per purpose and traction power required. Other mechanical subsystems like drive transmissions, pulleys, axles, differential, tie rods, steering etc., besides glow plugs, working lights, glues and special oils etc., are used.
