All About Mini RC Cars

Mini RC cars are, essentially, very small Radio Controlled Cars. They were initially as long as six inches, but recently have shortened to two and a half inches. Thanks to modern technology, they haven't lost any basic mini RC car functionality as a result of this reduction in size. Since they are extremely small, they are sometimes called 'micro' RC cars. They are so small that they can even fit in your shirt pocket.

These cars are not meant only for kids. Those who enjoy both gas and electric RC cars due to their small size and impeccable replication of their real counterparts, will also fall for these extremely small, drivable and remotely operable toy cars.

People race them on table tops, custom made mini race tracks or just about on any smooth surface. However, these micro cars have certain operational limitations as well. They are not as versatile as 1/8 or 1/10 or 1/12 scale RC cars. They offer much less features since they are in the range of up to 1/50 to 1/65 scales. Usually, they can only be driven forward, backward, left or right. Driving one of these cars is similar to playing a computer race game where you control the car on the keyboard.

These cars have a motor for power and a radio receiver for control, but they don't normally have any batteries. They are so small that they can't accommodate even a single standard battery. How do they get their power? These mini/ micro RC cars come with chargeable battery cells inside their tiny bodies. The radio controller of mini RC car doubles up as a car charger. The mini RC car's battery cell can be charged by connecting the car to the charger on the controller.

The radio controller has a range of around 10 feet. Given the tiny size of this car, the range is quite adequate. A fast charging mini RC car takes only 45 seconds to charge and gives 10 minutes runtime, on average.

There are some die cast type metallic bodied mini cars that are known, besides their dazzling looks, to be much more powerful and run for as long as 15 minutes. These can reach speeds of up to 30 kmph and are available for around $20. Enjoy!
