Nitro RC Car Engines

The much acclaimed power and performance of Nitro RC cars - their ESP - over the Electrical RC cars comes mainly from the powerful internal combustion engines they use instead of electrical motors.

The engines are mainly of two types, two stroke and four stroke. The difference is the same as in a real car's engines. It refers to the number of stokes a piston will make in an engine cylinder to complete a full cycle of injection of fuel, compression, combustion and exhaustion of gases.

Like their real counter parts, two stroke engines take fuel, engine oil mix in to the engine, whereas, four stroke engines take fuel directly but oil separately from an oil reservoir. Two stroke engines are more popular among Nitro RC car racers, which have a 23 cc displacement to produce some 2.5 HP at an mazing more than 60 kmph at the entry level itself. Some RC enthusiasts even clocked an unbelievable 110 kmph!

The Nitro RC car engines are available with or without pull start. The engines could be started using an Engine Pull Start Cord made of nylon or using a starter kit. The cars without pull start cost less but you need to lug the starter box around to fire the car up. On the other hand, the pull start car is ready to be fired with only a little pull, for a few more bucks.

Besides maintaining it and its subsystems, an RC car engine also needs its ancillary systems, like fuel lines, fuel filter, air filter, cooling system, to be maintained well for its proper function.

Please take care to use only the prescribed and authentic parts to service your engine and seek expert help or contact online forums or blogs, in case you need help.

Whenever the engine under performs, it is prudent to check these ancillary systems first for proper functioning and cleaning or correcting the defects. The nitro RC car engine needs refuelling every 5 to 10 minutes of racing or playing.

Last, but not least important, is to always use good quality fuel. Cheap fuels may ruin your engine before its life time.

This full blown complexity of Nitro RC car engines, like their real counter parts is one of the main reasons for the exorbitant prices of these cars.
