About RC Monster Truck Frames

One aspect of any RC hobby is the opportunity to build your own RC vehicle. RC monster trucks offer the ability for you to create replicas of full size monster trucks down to the suspension springs. RC monster truck frames are the protective section that keeps the majority of functioning parts on a RC monster truck from being damaged. Two common frame types used in the racing industry are monocoque frames and tube frames. This trend has been passed onto the RC monster truck frames as well. Monocoque frames are built using panels that support themselves by folding the materials (or doubling up the materials) to give an added reinforcement. Monocoque frames can be made using aluminum or a more recent trend is Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics (CFRP). One of the abilities the monocoque frame has is the ability to double as a body. For instance a body may actually be a frame too, because the way the metal has been folded allows the body to perform all the functions of the frame.

Another frame type commonly used for RC monster truck frames is the tube style space frame. The tube style space frame is generally made of metal or aluminum as a hollow tube. The pieces are then welded or soldered together to make the desired size frame. The tube frame can have a body then place on the outside. The tube frame allows RC monster truck hobbyists to have a wider variety of body styles and it enables them to change the body of their trucks more frequently.

RC monster truck frames can be purchase individually and some come with kits. Finding the right size frame will depend on the chassis size and the body you plan to use. Pre-built or ready to run RC monster trucks will have the exact frame that they needed. Additionally, there are some manufactures that will custom build RC monster truck frames that suit your needs.
